📍 Estimated duration: 25 - 30 min

→ Includes hands-on setup for SD cards, backup options, and file transfer — test and adapt to your workflow.

🔹 Introduction

Welcome to Lesson 4 of The X-T5 Setup Course, your guide to building a reliable and efficient workflow with your Fujifilm X-T5 — from capture to backup to cataloging.

In this lesson, we’ll focus on protecting your files, optimizing your shooting process, and streamlining your editing pipeline. Whether you’re traveling light or managing high-volume sessions, the right workflow ensures you never lose a shot — and spend less time managing files later.

This lesson is divided into five key modules:

  1. Field Workflow Essentials — From capture to first selects: best practices on the go.

  2. Dual SD Card Strategies — Set up your cards for backup, overflow, or RAW/JPEG split.

  3. Automatic Backups — How to quickly transfer files to your phone or computer.

  4. Exporting & Cataloging — Get your files into Lightroom, Capture One, or your preferred system with ease.

🔁 A smooth, secure workflow lets you focus on what matters: your photography.

🔹 Module 1 — Field Workflow Essentials

📍 Estimated duration: 6–8 min

→ Build habits that protect your images and simplify your editing process — starting in the field and continuing after the shoot.

A good workflow begins before you even press the shutter and continues once the camera is back in your bag. This module helps you organize your shoots and prep your files for safe storage and fast editing — whether on location or back at your desk.

✅ Before the Shoot

Format both SD cards

  • From the menu → SET UP > USER SETTING > FORMAT

  • or use the shortcut → Hold the Delete (trash) button + press and hold the rear command dial.

This ensures your cards are clean and compatible — essential for reliable dual-card writing.

Label your cards physically

While the X-T5 doesn’t allow you to rename cards internally, physical labeling (e.g., “Card 1 – Main / Card 2 – Backup”) helps you stay organized during dual-slot shooting.

Check date & time settings

Menu path: SETUP > USER SETTING > DATE/TIME

Ensures chronological file sorting and proper metadata for imports and backups.
